July 1, 2008
LOWER MARION VELEZ (PA-E) 4
COASTAL
THUNDER (ME) 2
The U16 Boys Coastal
Thunder made a valiant effort in the US Youth Region 1
Championships. They played Lower Marion Velez to a 0-0
tie at the end of regulation. The score at the end of
overtime had not changed so the U16 Boys championship
and a ticket to the US Youth Soccer National
Championship all hinged on the result of penalty kicks.
Lower Marion Velez
connected on more PK's and advanced to the National
Championships with a 4-2 victory.
Even though The Coastal
Thunder did not become the first team to represent Maine
at the US Youth Soccer National Championships, they
represented Maine well as the U16 Boys State
Championships. Congratulations on a great season!
