defeats Bates in volleyball, 3-0

LEWISTON, Maine -- The
Amherst College
volleyball team earned a decisive 3-0 victory over NESCAC
opponent and host
Bates College on
Saturday, winning by scores of 25-22, 25-10, 25-13.
Cristy Meier led the Lord Jeffs (8-1, 2-0
NESCAC)
with 12 kills and three blocks. Other leaders for
Amherst
included Hannah Wirth with 3 aces, 3 kills and 3 blocks;
Rachel Yorke with 11 digs, Katherine Kanoff with 5 kills, 7
digs and 6 aces, Bethany Belisle with 10 digs, Erin Camp
with 11 digs and Katherine Jordan with 23 assists.
Bates (3-6, 0-2
NESCAC)
received a big match from junior Tess Dokus, who had 9 kills
with only one attack error (.471 attack percentage). Olivia
Schow added 7 kills, while Grace Haessler had 21 assists and
2 aces and junior Kira Kramlich (San Francisco, Calif.) came
up with 8 digs.
Bates will next play three matches at the
MIT Invitational, against opponents still to be
determined, starting on Friday, Sept. 26.
