volleyball finishes 6th out of 15 teams at MIT Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The
Bates College
volleyball team finished 2-2 overall and in sixth place out
of 15 teams at the
MIT Invitational on Sunday, as the Bobcats defeated
Smith
College 3-0 before
Williams
defeated the Bobcats in the Fifth Place match.
First-year Chrissy Gee (San Francisco, Calif.) had 13 kills
and 9 digs to lead the Bobcats in the win over
Smith,
with both teams playing in the Silver Bracket after going
1-1 on Friday.
Bates defeated
the Pioneers by scores of 25-16, 25-23 and 25-19. Junior Liz
Leberman (Concord, N.H.) had 5 kills and 12 digs, junior
Tess Dokus (Salem, Conn.) added 6 kills, first-year Olivia
Schow (Costa Mesa, Calif.) had 5 kills, junior Kira Kramlich
(San Francisco, Calif.) had a team-high 17 digs and
first-year Grace Haessler (Portland, Ore.) dished out 24
assists.
Williams
defeated
Bates on
Saturday afternoon, 3-0 (25-18, 25-9, 25-13) for fifth
place. Junior Avery Masters (Mill Valley, Calif.) had 6
kills and 4 digs for the Bobcats, with Gee and Schow adding
4 kills apiece. Haessler had 19 assists and 7 digs, while
Kramlich and junior Brittany Johnston (Winter Park, Colo.)
each had 8 digs.
Bates hosts
Saint Joseph's
College of Maine on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
