BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin
football player Nolan McNair (Oak Park, Calif.) has been
named the New England Small College Athletic Conference
Special Teams Player of the Week. A senior kicker/punter for
the Polar Bears, McNair was outstanding in Bowdoin's 55-14
win over Bates on Saturday.
McNair enjoyed a perfect showing against the Bobcats, going
7-for-7 on PAT attempts and 2-for-2 in field goals, hitting
from 20 and 32 yards out in the win. He also placed both of
his punts on the afternoon inside the Bates 20 yard line.
His 13 points broke the school record for single-game
scoring by a kicker of 12 set by Jim Burnett vs. Colby in
1971.
In addition, McNair broke the school's single-season scoring
record for a kicker with 41 points, breaking the mark of 37
set by Jim Burnett in both 1970 and '71. He has already
shattered the school's all-time scoring record for kickers,
having accumulated 116 points entering the final game of his
career at Colby on Saturday.
Bowdoin (3-4) can earn their third consecutive CBB title
with a win next week against the Mules. A Colby win would
result in the first three-way tie in the series since 1995. |
