GNAC
Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams Announced
Women's
College Soccer
November 11, 2008
STANDISH, ME – The
Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer
All-Conference teams have been announced and four
players have been selected to represent Saint Joseph's
College.
Sophomore Mikayla Call (Portland, ME/McAuley) has been
tabbed as a First Team All-Conference forward for the
second time while midfielder Katie Jordan ‘09 (Sandwich,
MA) and junior defenders Anna Willis (Gorham, ME) and
Lauren Hagerman (Scarborough, ME) have all received
Second Team honors.
Senior co-captain Lauren Harrigan (Caribou, ME) has been
selected as the team's representative on the GNAC
All-Conference Sportsmanship Team.
Call led the Lady Monks in scoring for the second
straight season with 14 goals and 33 points, with both
totals ranking fifth in the conference. The two-time
First Team All-Conference forward has already made her
mark in the St. Joe's record books, as her two-year
totals of 29 goals and 69 points rank seventh and
eighth, respectively, in the career records. Call was
named the GNAC Player of the Week on October 6th after
scoring four goals and two assists in a 2-1 week for St.
Joe's, including a hat trick performance in a 6-2
victory over Suffolk on September 30th.
For Jordan, the postseason honor is her second and
fourth overall, as she was named to the NCAA Division
III All-Independent Team after her freshman and
sophomore seasons. She wrapped up the ‘08 season as the
team's second leading scorer with 10 goals, which ranked
10th in the conference, and 26 points. The two-year
captain paced the team in game-winners with five, which
was the second-highest total in the GNAC. Jordan
completed her impressive four-year career with 32 goals
and 76 points, which rank as the sixth and seventh
highest totals, respectively, in program history.
Willis, a 2007 All-Tournament selection, is fourth on
the team with 12 points in 2008. The junior, who for the
last two seasons has played in her natural position up
front, has played as a back for half the year due to
injuries and has filled in quite capably for an SJC
defense that allowed 24 goals this season, the
fourth-fewest in the GNAC. Willis netted the
game-winning goal in a victory over GNAC-rival Emerson
College on October 8th. The All-Conference bid is the
first of her career.
Hagerman anchored a Saint Joseph's defense that allowed
just four goals in the last eight games of the year. She
is a tenacious shutdown defender who can play centrally
or out wide. The All-Conference selection is the first
of Hagerman's career.
