Huskies to 24th Place Finish at New England Championship

BOSTON -- Junior Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine/Mountain
Valley) of the
University of
Southern Maine men’s cross country team finished 38th among 316
finishers Saturday at the
New England Intercollegiate Amatuer Athletic Association
(NEIcAAA) New England Cross Country Championships held at
Frankln Park.
Jasud paced the Huskies to a 24th place finish in the team
standings among the 47 scoring teams. The
University of
Massachusetts Lowell took the team title with 79 points.
The
University of New Hampshire (89 points),
Brown
University (97),
Dartmouth College (192) and the
University
of Massachusetts Amherst (196) round out the top five
teams.
Jasud covered the Franklin
Park course in a time of 25 minutes, 29 seconds. Junior
Justin Richardson (Turner, Maine/St. Dominic) was the second
USM finisher, coming home in 116th place with a time of 26:26.
Freshman Alex Gomes (Peabody, Mass.) was the third
USM runner finishing in 134th place in 26:35. Junior JJ Forcella
(Falmouth, Maine) was two spots further back in 136th with a
time of 26.37.
Senior Tim Ritchie of
Boston College
was the individual winner in a time of 24:35.
Up next for the Huskies is the
State of Maine Championships next Saturday (2:00 p.m.) at
Twin Brook in Cumberland, Maine.
