Tyler Jasud Named Little East
Conference Runner of the Week

GORHAM, Maine -- For the third time this fall,
University of
Southern Maine junior Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine/Mountain
Valley) has been named the
Little East Conference men’s cross country Runner of the Week.
Jonathan Harper, commissioner for the
Little East Conference, made the announcement Monday afternoon.
Jasud was recognized for his outstanding effort at the
NEIcAAA (New
England Inter-collegiate Amateur Athletic Association)
New England Men’s Cross Country Championship held Saturday
at Franklin Park in Boston. He had previously been named LEC
Runner of the Week on September 15 and September 22.
Jasud finished in 38th place
among the 316 finishers at the meet that features NCAA
Division I, II and III teams from throughout the six-state
region with a time of 25 minutes, 29 seconds. He was the
seventh Division III runner, and first LEC competitor, to
cross the line. Jasud cut more than two full minutes off his
2007 time (27:57) and improved 129 places in the finishing
order.
Led by Jasud, the Huskies
finished 24th among the 47 scoring teams in the final team
standings. The Huskies finished with 617 points.
The University
of Massachusetts Lowell took the team title with 79
points. The
University of New Hampshire (89 points),
Brown
University (97),
Dartmouth College (192) and the
University
of Massachusetts Amherst (196) round out the top five
teams. Senior Tim Ritchie of
Boston College
was the individual winner in a time of 24:35.
Up next for the Huskies is the
State of Maine Championships on Saturday (2:00 p.m.) at Twin
Brook in Cumberland, Maine.
