GORHAM, Maine -- Two members of the
University of
Southern Maine men’s soccer team have been recognized by the
Little East Conference for their outstanding play during the
week of October 20-26.
Junior goalkeeper David Kreps (Agawam, Mass./Wilbraham &
Monson) was named the Goalkeeper of the Week for the third
time this season, and sophomore defender Adam Gadbois
(Brunswick, Maine/Mt. Ararat) was selected as the Defensive
Player of the Week. Jonathan Harper, commissioner of the
Little East Conference, made the announcements Monday afternoon.
Gadbois spearheaded the Huskies’
defense that allowed just five shots on goal in 180 minutes
of play. This is the first time that Gadbois has been
recognized by the conference with a weekly honor.
Kreps, who was previously named Goalkeeper of the Week on
September 22 and October 6, posted two shutouts last week to
help the Huskies
post a pair of 2-0 victories. He had two saves in the Huskies’
road win at
Maine
Maritime Academy, and three stops in the team’s win over
LEC
foe Western Connecticut State University.
In 13 appearances this season, Kreps has fashioned a 1.13
goals against average with an 8-4 record and five shutouts.
Gadbois has started all 17 matches he has played scoring one
goal.
The Huskies will host Salem State College on Tuesday (3:00
p.m.) for a non-conference match before closing the regular
season on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) hosting LEC rival Rhode
Island College. The winner of the USM-RIC match will be the
top seed in the upcoming LEC championship tournament.
