GORHAM, Maine -- Senior defender Regina Wilson (Shrewsbury,
Mass./Proctor Academy) of the University of Southern Maine
women’s soccer team has been named to the All-Little East
Conference second team following a vote by the conference’s
eight head coaches. Jonathan Harper, Commissioner of the
Little East Conference, made the announcement.
A two-year starter on the Huskies’ back line, Wilson played
in 15 matches this season. This is the first time in her
career that Wilson has received all-conference recognition.
“I’m extremely pleased for
Reggie,î commented head coach Lisa Petruccelli. ìShe
demonstrated a superior level of commitment to her play and
the team this season. She doesn't simply attend practices or
get to the game. She gives each drill, each practice, each
game, her best effort. She makes her teammates better
players because of her tireless work rate against them in
practice and with them in a game. Reggie willingly accepted
any challenge we gave her and is very deserving of this
recognition.
During her four-year career,
Wilson played in 68 matches, starting 41, and scored one
goal.
Southern Maine finished the
2008 season with a 4-12-1 overall record.
